What Does A Clean Election Mean?

Under the Maine Clean Election Act, participating candidates must show they have grassroots support from voters in our district before they receive public campaign funding.

 

For legislative candidates like me, that means collecting a number of small, $5 qualifying contributions from registered voters in District 23.

This requirement ensures that candidates funded through this system have real community backing, not just big checks from special interests. That’s why qualifying contributions must be from individuals using their own funds and meet specific verification rules.

While we have crossed the finish line to qualify, we aren’t done yet. To unlock the maximum level of funding and ensure we have the resources to reach every voter in the district, we need to secure an additional 120 unique qualifying contributions of $5. Reaching this goal allows us to compete at the highest level and ensures our platform is heard far and wide.
